Toledo 30 years Patrimony of the Humanity
On November 26, 1986, Unesco accepted Toledo as a World Heritage City. Toledo has changed a lot during the last three decades. Of the almost one thousand hotel beds in 1986, it has now risen to around 4,500. And from 16 hotel establishments to 70.
The numbers of visitors are increasing. The year has not ended and the number of tourists is approaching 1,300,000 people.
They are not the only changes during these thirty years. Only in population has grown almost 50 percent, from just over 58,000 inhabitants in 1986 to almost 84,000 today, and this considering that the 20th century came with 23,000 residents.
The declaration of World Heritage came to Toledo 3 years after being designated, capital of Castilla-La Mancha. It was in 1983. And, it's not the only Heritage City. Toledo has the second largest Historic Center in the world by concentration of monuments after Rome and from that date is ready to celebrate it in style.
A city that deserves this title with a lot of pride, without a doubt a city that impresses from the first step that we take for its streets, it is history on all sides, it is culture, it is impressive.
